Luang Prabang est un des fleurons architecturaux de la République Populaire du Laos. La ville compte 16000 habitants et tire son nom d'une statue de Bouddha d'or. La ville a été classée au Patrimoine de l'humanité en 1995 par l'UNESCO.Elle est dominée par le mont Phousi, une colline qui comporte plusieurs temples auxquels on accède par un escalier de 350 marches.
